New Delhi, India – On March 25, 2023, a Millet Swachhata Walkathon and Eat Right Millet Mela was organised in Qudsia Bagh, Gate No:3, Prema Kunj, Railway Colony, Civil Lines, New Delhi to promote healthy living and cleanliness while highlighting the importance of millets in a healthy diet.
The Millet Walkathon and Eat Right Millet Mela, was organised by FSSAI in association with MCD and supported by Nutrilite Amway, aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of millets and promote their consumption as part of a healthy and sustainable diet.
“We are witnessing an agricultural renaissance with the most ancient crop of the world becoming the present and the future crop,” said Mr. G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Chief Executive Officer, FSSAI, setting the context for the Millet Walkathon and Mela Delhi 2023.

The walkathon witnessed an enthusiastic flag off by Sangram Singh, an Indian Wrestler and Actor. The other attendees of the event were Shri Sunil Bhadu, ITS, Addl. The Millet Walkathon was a 5-kilometer walk, open to people of all age groups. The walkathon was followed by Eat Right Millet Mela, where participants were able to enjoy a variety of activities including Stall showcasing Millet based products and recipes, Handicraft, Healthy Food preparations with the use of Millets, Experience Zone especially curated by Amway, Flash Mobs by professionals, Warm-Up Zumba Sessions, Cultural Program and Dance, and Health Camp; as well as learn about the health benefits of Millets and how they are grown.
The Swachhata (cleanliness) component of the walkathon emphasized on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and no plastic use.
